Hyena
Hyena / Crocuta crocuta
Habitat: |
A common species. Widely spread in all Southern Africa. |
Size: |
A typical male is about 80 cm tall at the withers and weighs up to 80 kg. |
Habits: |
Hunts in gangs by trying to break the legs of the animal which is then immediately ripped up. Most often feeds on carcasses. I have seen how Hyenas kill a Buffalo. |
Hunting advice: |
Most often, it is hunted by stalking or at drinking places and on bait. Aim at the chest. Even thouг it is a typical member of the predator family, I am not aware of any case of a Hyena attacking a hunter. |
Caliber: |
Anything over 7 mm kills the Hyena. |
Trophy: |
The skin made into a carpet, the skull. We do not recommend preparation in Africa. |
Location: |
In all hunting destinations we offer in Tanzania, Namibia, Botswana, Zambia, Zimbabwe and Mozambique and RSA. |
