Blue/Striped Wildebeest
Blue /Striped Wildebeest/ Connoсhaetes taurinus
Habitat: |
A common species. Probably the most numerous African antelope. A beautiful, robust animal. Its natural habitat, where is widespread, is Kenya, Tanzania, Zambia, Namibia, Botswana, Zimbabwe, Mozambique and Northern RSA. |
Size: |
A typical male is about 150 cm tall at the withers and weighs up to 250 kg., a female weighs up to 180 kg. |
Habits: |
Forms enormous herds. It is rather an exception to encounter a solitary individual. |
Hunting advice: |
Most often it is hunted on land by stalking or at drinking places. Aim at the chest. |
Caliber: |
We recommend a caliber of minimum .30-06 with 11,7-gram bullet. |
Trophy: |
The horns, some prepare the skin as well, but we do not consider it fit. A chest mount is very beautiful. We do not recommend preparation in Africa. The record of a horn is 84 cm. In the past, in jest, it was referred to as the “Buffalo of socialists” as its hunt is less expensive than the one of a Cape Buffalo. |
Location: |
In all hunting destinations we offer in Botswana, Namibia, Zimbabwe, Zambia and Mozambique. We recommend hunting Blue Wildebeest in Namibia where we have gotten our largest and most beautiful trophies and the species’ population is the most numerous. |
