Crocodile
Crocodile/Crocodylus niloticus
Habitat: |
A common species in all countries in Sub-Saharan Africa. There is almost no water basin without a Crocodile in it. It crosses large distances on land, too. |
Size: |
A typical male is from 100 cm to 500 cm long and weighs up to 1200 kg depending on the species. |
Habits: |
Very cautious with acute sight, hearing and a keen sense of smell. |
Hunting advice: |
It is most often hunted by stalking on land while it basks in the sun onshore. To shoot at the animal in the water is useless – it will immediately sink and you will lose the trophy. It is also possible to hunt it on bait. Aim at the end of the “smile” or at the third scute on the neck. The shot should break the spine or shutter the brain. This is the only way to get this unique trophy. |
Caliber: |
We recommend to hunt with a caliber of minimum .30-06 with an 11,7- gram galvanized bullet (bonded core). |
Trophy: |
The skin, the jaws. We do not recommend preparation in Africa. The length record is 5, 23 m. Some especially large specimens are rather a legend than reality. |
Location: |
In all hunting destinations we offer in Botswana, Zambia, Zimbabwe and Mozambique. We recommend Crocodile hunting in Zimbabwe – Gache-Gache – we have harvested impressive trophies there where the specie spreads in its largest numbers. |
